Tip 1: Keep calm and reassure other people who may be nearby.
Tip 2: Don’t hold the person down or try to stop his or her movements. (“Don’t” is fuchsia.)
Tip 3: Time the seizure with your watch.
Tip 4: Clear the area around the person of anything hard or sharp.
Tip 5: Put something soft (folded sweatshirt) under their head. (“something soft” is in purple.)
Tip 6: DO NOT try to force open their mouth with anything hard or your finger! (“DO NOT” is in purple.)
Tip 7: Turn the person gently onto one side. This will help keep the airway clear.
Tip 8: Stay with the person until the seizure has ended naturally.
Tip 9: Be friendly and reassuring as consciousness returns.
